Manchester United submit mega offer for Fermin Lopez

Manchester United have been rumoured to have submitted an €80 million offer for Fermin Lopez, as Barcelona may not ignore such a proposal.

According to Sebastian Vidal, Manchester United have rumoured to have submitted an €80 million offer to tempt Barcelona into selling Fermin Lopez. The attacking midfielder’s future with the Catalans has been called into question of late, with the Spanish giants unlikely to ignore such a huge offer for their homegrown star.

Manchester United are moving along nicely in the transfer market to get some important deals done. Having landed the signature of striker Benjamin Sesko, the Red Devils are now angling for a move for midfielder Carlos Baleba to improve the options in the middle.

However, there have been a few reports linking Manchester United to Barcelona star Fermin Lopez. There are some doubts whether Ruben Amorim is seriously seeking an attacking midfielder, but the Spaniard could also play in a deeper role if required, which makes him a useful addition.

Barcelona might be open to the prospect of a sale of Lopez, should a huge enough offer arrive for the midfielder. It appears Manchester United have been rumoured to have made an €80 million offer for the player, with 18 goal contributions last season under Hansi Flick, with the Catalans unlikely to ignore the offer if the figures are accurate.

Lopez is not keen on leaving Barcelona, but external issues at the club could force the Catalans into considering a decision on a sale. Flick rates the star and could view him as an important part of the team ahead of the new season, but from a financial point of view, Barcelona may not ignore the €80 million offer from Manchester United.

Could Barcelona sell Fermin Lopez?

The Barcelona pre-season so far has indicated that Flick will give Lopez a key role on his side next season, as he could potentially compete for the attacking midfield or central positions. Hence, there will be a few doubts from a sporting side whether the Catalans will want to sell the midfielder.

There have been rumours that Dani Olmo could be the player that Barcelona may consider offers for this summer, with the Spanish international struggling in his first season. As for Lopez and the Manchester United bid for the Barcelona whizkid, further reports could potentially clarify if the Red Devils have any interest at all, and if so, Barcelona’s stance could become clearer.
