Leeds United will make move for Josh Sargent after Patrick Bamford leaves

Leeds United are interested in signing 25-year-old USMNT international Josh Sargent from Norwich City in the summer transfer window.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Leeds United will make their move for Norwich City striker Josh Sargent after Patrick Bamford departs from Elland Road in the ongoing transfer window.

Bamford was not a regular starter for Leeds United last season, and he is not a part of Daniel Farke’s plans going forward. It makes sense for the newly promoted Premier League side to get rid of the struggling English striker. They will look to replace him with the American striker, who has scored 49 goals for EFL Championship club Norwich City.

Sargent has proven himself at Norwich City, and the opportunity to return to the Premier League could be quite exciting for him. It would be a massive step up in his career, and he will be excited about the possibility of joining Leeds United if the opportunity presents itself.

Leeds United did quite well in the Championship last season, winning the title. The Whites need more quality and depth in the side if they want to do well in the top flight. They will need quality players to bridge the gap between the two divisions.

The West Yorkshire outfit will want to establish themselves as top-flight regulars in the upcoming campaign, and it will be interesting to see if they can improve the squad adequately.

Josh Sargent would improve Leeds United

Sargent has the physicality and qualities to succeed in the Premier League, and he will look to make an instant impact at Leeds if the move goes through. As for Bamford, he will look to sort out his long-term future.

The Englishman needs to join a club where he will play regularly, and Leeds United will not be able to provide him with that opportunity. It remains to be seen whether he can finalise a move quickly and focus on his football once again.

Leeds United will not want to come back down to the EFL Championship next summer. They must do everything in their power to survive in the top flight. A reliable goalscorer would be ideal. It remains to be seen whether they can convince Norwich to sell the player.
