Inter Take a Stand About Two of Their Defenders

Inter need to sell one of their defenders before adding at the position, and Yann Aurel Bisseck is currently a safer bet to stay put than Benjamin Pavard, even though the former is more in demand, Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto report (via SOSFanta).

Galatasaray are interested in the Frenchman, but the talks have only been very preliminary so far. The Nerazzurri are open to considering proper offers. Instead, they’d like to keep the starlet. They had shortlisted Koni De Winter in case of an exit, but he’s going to Milan instead. Like many teams, they are keen on Giovanni Leoni, but his price tag is prohibitive for Serie A sides at this stage. Liverpool would be in pole position if they decided he was the right man for the job.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Inter have turned down €35M offers coming from Crystal Palace and Bournemouth for Bisseck earlier in the summer, instead the threshold to sit at the table for Pavard is €20/25M. They’d free the books from a conspicuous salary if he departed. However, it also complicates his exit.

The Nerazzurri haven’t outright ruled out cashing in on the German talent, but they demand at least €40M.

Our Take on Inter, Bisseck, and Pavard

It’s a reasonable stance if the goal is to get younger, but it’d be even better if they offloaded either Francesco Acerbi or Stefan De Vrij instead, who are longer on the tooth. If they were close to doing something, they wouldn’t have let De Winter head elsewhere. Instead, they probably would need to give up the chase for Ademola Lookman to have the ammo to sign Giovanni Leoni. Perhaps they should.
