Chelsea ready to bide time in Alejandro Garnacho pursuit

Chelsea will reportedly look to sign 21-year-old Argentine international Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Football Insider, Alejandro Garnacho is the subject of interest from Chelsea. The Blues are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a wide attacker in the summer transfer window. So, the 21-year-old Manchester United winger has emerged as a target for the West London club.

However, the FIFA Club are ready to bide their time until the Red Devils reduce their asking price from £50 million to an acceptable valuation. Meanwhile, a report by Give Me Sport has revealed developing fears at Manchester United “that they are going to be left in a hole if Chelsea don’t end up completing a move” in the final days of the summer transfer window.

Alejandro Garnacho and his situation

Alejandro Garnacho has shown exciting potential since breaking into the first-team squad at Manchester United. The 21-year-old graduated from the academy under Erik ten Hag, but he has been in and out of the starting lineup under Ruben Amorim. However, the youngster has reached a crossroads in his career after a run-in with Amorim following last season’s UEFA Europa League final.

The Argentine international has turned out nearly 150 times thus far for Manchester United while chipping in with 26 goals and 22 assists. However, Garnacho has no future at Manchester United, as Amorim has reportedly told him to find a new club. The situation has piqued the attention of several clubs, with Chelsea among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

London calling?

Chelsea’s interest in Alejandro Garnacho is understandable. The Blues are scouring the market for another wide attacker despite signing Jamie Gittens earlier in the summer transfer window. So, the Manchester United whizkid has emerged as a target, with Chelsea recently intensifying the talks to secure his services.

However, Manchester United’s asking price of £50 million has created an issue for Chelsea, and the 2024/25 UEFA Europa Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup winners do not want to pay that sum. So, Chelsea will bide time instead of forking out £50 million to sign the Madrid-born winger.

The situation has created fears at Manchester United “that they are going to be left in a hole if Chelsea don’t end up completing a move” for the 21-year-old Argentine international in the final days of the summer transfer window. So, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for Garnacho.
