Tottenham front-runners in battle for Harry Kane, face Barcelona battle
Tottenham could strongly ponder a move to bring Harry Kane back next year when a clause in his Bayern Munich deal activates, with Barcelona also keen.
According to Football Insider, Harry Kane could be set for a sensational return to Tottenham if the club makes a big move for the striker next year. A release clause in the forward’s Bayern Munich deal activates next summer, which could see Spurs strongly ponder bringing him back, although they might face intense competition from Barcelona.
Harry Kane remains one of the formidable strikers in the world, and despite being 32, he has continued to score plenty of goals. Having spent most of his career at Tottenham, he played 435 games for them and scored 280 times while adding 63 assists to his name in that period across all competitions.
Since joining Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023, the England captain has proved his worth for the investment the Bavarians made to sign him. Kane has an incredible 85 goals and 26 assists in 96 appearances for the German side, as he continues to show that he will keep scoring goals irrespective of where he plays.
Following his move to Bayern Munich, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy confirmed the club have a buy-back clause, as the report states they may have a first refusal if he were to leave Bayern Munich. It appears his contract with the Bavarians has a release clause in the region of £56 million, which will activate next summer, as Tottenham are now pondering making the best out of it.
Kane may be tempted to chase down Alan Shearer’s goalscoring record in the Premier League, and he’s one of those very close to that magic number. Kane was linked with a return to England, but there was no chance of Bayern Munich letting him leave this summer.
Barcelona could challenge Tottenham for Harry Kane
As per Fichajes, Barcelona are also in the mix if the release clause in Kane’s contract comes true. The Catalans have a formidable striker in Robert Lewandowski, who, much like the Bayern Munich mainstay, has continued to show immense form in front of goal.
However, the ageing Polish star may need to be replaced at some stage, and this is where Barcelona might consider making the move for Kane. Whether they can conjure up a deal for the talismanic English striker remains to be seen, but teams like Tottenham will be on alert if they sniff an opportunity to bring their former player back.
