West Ham United reach agreement to sign Mads Hermansen

Graham Potter’s West Ham United have reportedly an agreement in place to sign Leicester City shot-stopper Mads Hermansen.

According to a report from the BBC, Mads Hermansen is all set to secure an immediate return to the Premier League as West Ham United have struck a deal with Leicester City. The Hammers will be paying around £20 million to sign the Danish shot-stopper ahead of the upcoming season.

Hermansen came up the ranks at Brondby IF and made a name for himself while playing for their first team before joining the Foxes in the summer of 2023. The Dane had a sensational debut campaign as he helped them win the Championship and secure promotion to the top flight.

While the 25-year-old failed to keep them in the Premier League, his performances did not go unnoticed. Multiple top clubs from across Europe were keen on signing him following Leicester City’s relegation. While there was no shortage of interest in him, West Ham United were always in pole position to sign him.

The East London outfit were in the market for a new goalkeeper following the departure of Lukasz Fabianski, and they consider Hermansen an ideal fit for Graham Potter’s system. Casper Ankergren, who worked with the Mads Hermansen at Brondby, is West Ham’s goalkeeping coach, and he is believed to have played a big part in the transfer.

Hermansen is set to join West Ham

West Ham had been in talks with Leicester City over a deal for Mads Hermansen for weeks, and they have finally managed to strike a deal with them for a fee worth around £20 million. Hermansen was eager to secure a return to the top flight; as a result, agreeing on personal terms was never really a problem for Potter’s team.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Hammers have agreed a deal with Leicester City, and they already have an agreement in place with the player on personal terms. The Dane is set to undergo his medical on Friday before the official announcement of the transfer.

While the 25-year-old did not have the best of times last season, a lot was down to the fact that he didn’t have the best of defence to support him. A move to West Ham could help the Danish shot-stopper showcase his true potential, and it will certainly bolster the Hammers’ defence.
