Newcastle United hope to sign Nicolas Jackson for £60 million

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are reportedly hoping to secure the services of Chelsea outcast Nicolas Jackson for £60 million.

According to a report from The i Paper, Newcastle United are keen on acquiring the services of Nicolas Jackson as Eddie Howe looks to reinforce his attack ahead of the new season. While they are ready to make a move for the Chelsea forward, there is a difference in the valuation of both clubs.

Jackson made a name for himself while playing for Villarreal before joining Chelsea in the summer of 2023. While he has done a decent job for the London club, the 24-year-old has not been able to convince the Blues about being their number nine going forward.

Chelsea are ready to sell Nicolas Jackson

As a result, they ended up joining Joao Pedro and Liam Delap this summer. Nicolas Jackson is no longer an integral part of Enzo Maresca’s plans, and they are ready to sanction the departure of the Senegalese international.

Newcastle United have emerged as a potential destination for the young and versatile striker. The Magpies parted ways with Callum Wilson as a free agent, and they are yet to replace him. Meanwhile, they are struggling to hold on to their star striker, Alexander Isak.

With Isak’s future up in the air amid his links with Liverpool, they have made Nicolas Jackson a top target for the summer. While they are ready to make a move for the 24-year-old, they value him at around £60 million, but the Blues want close to £70 million. The Tyneside club will have to convince the Magpies to sell him for a lower fee.

Jackson keen on joining Newcastle United

Negotiations with Chelsea might not be easy, but they do have a boost as Jackson is keen on making the move, as reported by TEAMtalk. He is a priority target for the Tyneside outfit, and they have directly reached out to his representatives.

The former Villarreal attacker is open to a switch to St. James’ Park, as he could have a prominent role there and could become an integral part of their ambitious project under the ownership of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF). Personal terms won’t be a problem because his camp is eager to negotiate a deal that aligns with his aspirations as a player.

While reports earlier suggested Bayern Munich could enter the race for his signature, their director of sport, Max Eberl, has made it clear that they are not interested in his services, and he hasn’t spoken to him. With Bayern Munich not in the picture, the Magpies can certainly try to negotiate a lower fee with the Blues.
