Leeds United eyeing Facundo Buonanotte swoop
Leeds United will reportedly look to sign 20-year-old Argentine international Facundo Buonanotte from Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer transfer window.
According to an update by the reliable Ben Jacobs, Facundo Buonanotte is the subject of interest from Leeds United. The Whites are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a versatile playmaker in the summer transfer window. So, the 20-year-old Brighton & Hove Albion prospect has emerged as a target for the newly promoted Premier League club.
However, “there’s currently low confidence in pulling off an ambitious move” for the Perez native in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, Leeds United will face stiff competition from Borussia Dortmund, with the Bundesliga outfit already holding talks and considering a bid over a summer deal.
Facundo Buonanotte and his situation
Facundo Buonanotte has had to bide his time since joining Brighton & Hove Albion from Rosario Central in January 2023. The 20-year-old showed flashes of brilliance in his first 18 months with the Premier League club before the Seagulls loaned him to Leicester City last summer. However, a frustrating 2024/25 season was on the cards for the young playmaker.
While the Argentine international was a rare bright spot for Leicester City, he was in and out of the starting lineup and suffered relegation from the Premier League. Buonanotte has returned to the Amex Stadium after his loan spell, but he may not have a long-term future with Brighton & Hove Albion. The situation has captured the attention of several well-known clubs, including Leeds United.
Move across the Premier League on the cards?
Leeds United’s interest in Facundo Buonanotte is understandable. The Whites are scouring the market for a versatile playmaker as Daniel Farke aims to add more firepower to his squad’s offensive unit in the summer transfer window. Several candidates, including Jota Silva, have emerged on Leeds United’s radar, with Buonanotte also a viable target.
While the 2024/25 EFL Championship winners “hold a genuine interest” in Buonanotte, “there’s currently low confidence in pulling off an ambitious move” for the highly-rated playmaker. Additionally, Leeds United will face stiff competition from Borussia Dortmund for the South American prospect’s signature.
The Bundesliga giants have already held talks over a possible summer move, and they are mulling over submitting a bid to secure his services in the summer transfer window. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 20-year-old Argentine international.
