Fulham ready to steal a march on Leeds United in Mehdi Taremi chase as bid prepared

Marco Silva’s Fulham are looking to hijack Leeds United’s move for veteran Inter Milan striker Mehdi Taremi.

According to Corriere dello Sport via SportWitness, Fulham are ready to table an offer for Mehdi Taremi as they look to beat Leeds United to the signature of the Inter Milan striker. The Iranian international is set to be on the move before the end of the transfer window, and both English clubs are ready to battle it out for his services.

Taremi made quite a name for himself with his consistent performances at FC Porto. He was involved in a total of 182 matches for the Portuguese giants and ended up contributing towards 147 goals (91 goals, 56 assists).

His consistent performances earned him a move to Inter Milan last summer. Unfortunately, the move didn’t really go according to plan for him as he failed to establish himself as a key figure in the team.

Despite being involved in a total of 43 matches, he only racked up 1,887 minutes of first-team action and contributed towards 12 goals. While he still has two years left on his deal with the Italian giants, he is expected to be on the move in the coming weeks.

He is not an integral part of their plans, and they are ready to cash in on him, make room for potential new signings. While there is interest in his services from across the globe, the 33-year-old wants to continue in Europe.

Leeds to face serious competition from Fulham

Leeds United are one of the clubs that are keen on his signature. Daniel Farke is looking for a proven goal scorer for his team as he wants to ensure they survive in the top flight after having secured promotion last time out. Taremi is an ideal fit for his team, given the amount of experience he has.

While reports earlier suggested that Leeds were on the verge of securing his services, Fulham are looking to hijack the deal. The Cottagers have been linked with him for a while and have stepped up their efforts in recent weeks.

They already have Raul Jimenez and Rodrigo Muniz in their ranks, but Silva seeks more competition in the final third. They are preparing an offer for the Iranian international and are doing everything in their power to beat Leeds to his signature.

While the financial details haven’t been disclosed, reports earlier suggested he could be available for around €10 million, having struggled to make a mark at Inter last time out.
