Benfica plotting loan move for Antony, two approaches made

Benfica have made at least two separate approaches to take Antony on loan, with Manchester United hoping to sell him on.

According to Caught Offside, Benfica are making big attempts to sign Antony on loan in this window. The Portuguese giants have made two separate approaches to lure the unwanted Manchester United star, although the Premier League giants are angling to sell him on.

Manchester United continued to make the best of the window, as they landed striker Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig. Since then, they have approached Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba, although their main focus right now is to find solutions for some of their unwanted players in the squad.

Marcus Rashford has already left the team on loan, while there are links to Chelsea for Alejandro Garnacho. Rasmus Hojlund could also depart after Sesko’s arrival, while the club are yet to find any realistic solutions to Jadon Sancho and Antony.

Sticking with Antony in this story, the Brazilian did spend the second half of last season with Real Betis to good effect. The Spanish side are still hopeful of signing him and have recently devised a new plan to convince Manchester United to agree to their terms for the Brazilian.

Antony had interest from Brazilian clubs, but he has rejected them, while some Saudi Arabian sides were also showing credible interest. For now, most reports have stated the resurgent Manchester United outcast is leaning towards returning to Real Betis, as he prioritises regular game time ahead of next year’s World Cup, which he may achieve at Betis.

Benfica in multiple approaches for Antony

Benfica are the latest to show an interest in bringing the resurgent Manchester United outcast, as the Portuguese giants are angling for a loan move. As per CNN Portugal’s Bruno Andrade, Benfica have made two separate approaches to Manchester United, but may not have gone too far with their overtures.

Manchester United are eager to sell him outright this window for a transfer fee, and may not entertain loan approaches at the moment. However, their stance could change in the latter stages of the window, and if Real Betis cool their interest, Benfica could stand a chance to lure the resurgent Manchester United outcast to Portugal.
