Al-Nassr eyeing Yoane Wissa swoop amid Premier League links

Al-Nassr will reportedly compete with Newcastle United and Tottenham to sign 28-year-old DR Congo international Yoane Wissa from Brentford in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by French outlet L’Equipe, Yoane Wissa is the subject of interest from Al-Nassr. Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are also keen on signing the Brentford striker in the summer transfer window. However, the West London club’s price to part ways with the 28-year-old attacker is “considered too high” by the Premier League outfits, although the Saudi Pro League giants are ready to meet it.

Yoane Wissa and his rising stock

Yoane Wissa has seen his stock skyrocket since joining Brentford from FC Lorient in August 2021. The 28-year-old has gone from strength to strength in the last four years, establishing himself as a pivotal figure for the West London outfit. He was exceptional in the 2024/25 campaign, in particular, having combined with Bryan Mbeumo to forge a game-changing partnership.

The DR Congo international contributed to 25 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions, scoring 20 times and providing five assists. Meanwhile, Wissa’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs. Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Al-Nassr are among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

What next?

Newcastle United’s exasperating transfer window took a turn for the worse after RB Leipzig agreed to sell Benjamin Sesko to Manchester United earlier this week. With Alexander Isak facing an uncertain future at St. James’ Park, the Magpies need a new striker. So, Wissa has emerged as a viable target, with recent reports pointing to Newcastle United’s growing confidence.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Yoane Wissa makes sense. While Thomas Frank has a top-class striker in his squad, Dominic Solanke endured a frustrating debut season with the North London outfit. So, Tottenham can do with another centre-forward, making the versatile Wissa an option worth considering.

As for Al-Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo’s presence means Wissa will unlikely start as a striker for the big-spending Saudi Pro League giants. However, Jhon Duran has joined Fenerbahce on loan this summer, and Sadio Mane faces an uncertain future at the club. So, the African attacker has emerged as a viable target for Al-Nassr.

While Newcastle United and Tottenham consider Brentford’s price “too high”, Al-Nassr will have no qualms about meeting the valuation in the summer transfer window. So, Newcastle United’s frustrations may grow further if they fail to sign the 28-year-old DR Congo international.
