Tottenham line up €100 million move for Rafael Leao
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly lining up a mega-money move to sign 26-year-old AC Milan attacker Rafael Leao this summer.
As per a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a €100 million offer for 26-year-old AC Milan attacker Rafael Leao. The player contributed 25 goals last season, and he could prove to be an excellent addition for Tottenham.
The Portuguese international could be a replacement for Son Heung-min, who has left Tottenham. The veteran South Korean attacker has joined MLS outfit Los Angeles FC. Tottenham will need to replace him, and the AC Milan talisman could be the ideal acquisition.
Rafael Leao is at the peak of his powers, and he has proven his quality in Italy. He has the physical and technical attributes to do well in England as well. Tottenham can convince AC Milan to sell the player. But they will need to convince Leao as well, which may be a tall order.
The Portuguese international is enjoying his time at the Serie A club, and he might not be too keen on an exit. However, the move to the Premier League could be an interesting opportunity for him. Leao is at the peak of his career, and this could be the right time for him to take on a new challenge and prove his quality at a higher level.
Spurs move could be exciting
AC Milan are going through a period of rebuilding, and they might not be able to challenge for major trophies anytime soon. This could be the right time for Rafael Leao to move on. Even though Tottenham are going through a period of rebuilding as well, they have an exciting squad and a quality manager. They have more resources compared to the Italian club as well. It remains to be seen how the situation develops.
Tottenham must plug the gaps in their squad before the new season begins. They need to replace the South Korean, and they will also have to bring in a creative midfielder who can replace James Maddison. The England international has been ruled out for several months with ACL damage. Tottenham are currently light in the attacking unit, and they need multiple players before the window closes.
