Chelsea agree £60 million deal to sign Xavi Simons, player to sign seven-year contract
Chelsea are looking to finalise the signing of Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig, and they have reportedly agreed to a £60 million deal to complete the move.
According to an update by Orazio Accomando, RB Leipzig playmaker Xavi Simons will sign a seven-year contract with the Premier League club, lasting until 2032. The 22-year-old has been excellent for the Bundesliga outfit, and he should prove to be a superb acquisition for Chelsea.
The Blues needs to add more quality and depth in the final third, and Simons is expected to help them improve going forward. Capable of operating anywhere across the front three, he will look to create opportunities for his teammates and find the back of the net.
The Netherlands international registered 18 goal contributions last season, and he could improve further with coaching and experience. Playing in the Premier League could help him develop as he’ll be up against top-class players, potentially accelerating his growth. Chelsea have agreed on a fee with and personal terms with Xavi Simons; the transfer now hinges on completing formalities.
Chelsea need quality players to compete
Last season, Chelsea secured UEFA Champions League qualification and won both the UEFA Europa Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup. The West London outfit will be aiming to build on that success and push for major trophies in the upcoming campaign, and Xavi Simons is widely regarded as one of the finest young attacking players in European football.
He has proven himself in Germany and will now look to make his mark in England. The technically gifted attacker has the qualities to compete at the highest level, making the move to Chelsea potentially ideal for his career. Mykhailo Mudryk is facing a lengthy ban for doping, and Raheem Sterling is expected to be sold in the coming weeks.
Noni Madueke has already been sold to Arsenal. Chelsea needed more depth in the final third, so it is no surprise they have invested in Simons by agreeing the £60 million deal. The Blues also signed two quality strikers, Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, earlier this summer. Chelsea have been very active in the market, and fans will be delighted with the club’s investment in the squad.
