West Ham United interested in signing Alexander Sorloth

Graham Potter’s West Ham United are keen on signing Atletico Madrid striker Alexander Sorloth ahead of the new season.

According to a report from Fichajes, West Ham United are looking to add more firepower to their attack, and they are interested in the signature of Alexander Sorloth. While he did a great job for Atletico Madrid last season, Diego Simeone’s team are open to his departure if a significant offer comes their way.

On the back of an impressive season with Villarreal, Sorloth joined the Madrid-based club last summer. He had an impressive debut campaign as he finished with 24 goals and two assists. Despite not being a regular starter, the 29-year-old striker certainly made the most out of the opportunities he got.

While he still has three years left on his deal, he could be on the move just 12 months after joining Atletico, amidst interest from multiple English clubs. Despite his impressive performances, the Spanish giants are ready to negotiate his departure as it could help them bring a world-class forward to partner with Julian Alvarez.

They view Sorloth’s sale as a strategic opportunity that would free up salary space and allow them to pursue a top striker. Simeone seeks more firepower in the final third with Antoine Griezmann already 34. The report suggests Atletico would be open to negotiations if an offer in excess of €25 million is presented.

West Ham could make a move for Sorloth

West Ham United have emerged as a potential destination for the 29-year-old, who did spend some time in England during his stint at Crystal Palace. While he didn’t have the best of times at Palace, he certainly has all the qualities needed to succeed in the Premier League.

Graham Potter’s team did secure the services of free agent Callum Wilson a few days back, but the English manager is still keen on adding another striker to the mix. Sorloth could be an ideal fit for his system, and with Atletico open to negotiations, this is a great opportunity for the Hammers.

Meanwhile, the former Villarreal star could certainly choose to move to London as he could end up having a key role in their team. But there is still a long way to go for this transfer to materialise.
