West Ham United formalise interest in signing Douglas Luiz on loan; Everton, Manchester United also keen
West Ham United have reportedly formalised their interest in Douglas Luiz and asked for a loan deal to take the Brazilian amid competition for the midfielder.
According to Football Insider, West Ham United are eager to get ahead of their competition and find a quick agreement with Juventus for Douglas Luiz. The Brazilian is primed to leave the Turin giants and make his return to the Premier League, as Everton and Manchester United are also in the hunt for the former Aston Villa star.
Douglas Luiz has encountered a difficult period since moving to Juventus from Aston Villa in a deal worth slightly over £42 million last summer. The 27-year-old has found the pathway to cementing his place in the Bianconeri midfield a difficult prospect, and he is now open to leaving the club, with a return to the Premier League is high on the cards.
Luiz has plenty of suitors from England, with Juventus demanding at least £40 million to sell the Brazil international. The Serie A giants were recently pushing the midfielder towards Nottingham Forest as reports stated the Tricky Trees were willing to take him on loan with a sizeable fee via a purchase obligation.
Juventus ideally would prefer to sell him right now, but they would be receptive to a loan with a buy obligation. However, most of his suitors are angling for a loan move, probably with a purchase option, as there are doubts whether they want to include a mandatory option in such a deal. Everton were very much interested earlier, while Manchester United were also keen
Everton are willing to wait for this move to materialise, as David Moyes wants a solid option in his midfield ahead of the new season. Manchester United might hold a trump card in Jadon Sancho, with Juventus keen to land the versatile English attacker, although it is West Ham who might be ahead in the race for the £40 million-rated Juventus flop.
West Ham formalise their interest in Douglas Luiz
West Ham are eager to add a big-name midfielder to their squad and have been interested in Luiz. The Hammers have formalised their interest by approaching to take the midfielder on loan for the upcoming season, although there is no clarity whether they have included a buy option or an obligation.
Earlier reports stated that Douglas Luiz was unlikely to join West Ham, but the circumstances in the background might have changed to help the player be open to the possibility. The Hammers are not the most attractive clubs among those who are interested, but for the £40 million-rated Juventus flop, the primary objective is to start playing regularly to protect his place in the Brazil squad, especially with next year’s World Cup on the horizon.
