Everton working on deal to sign Juanlu Sanchez

Everton and Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in signing 21-year-old Spanish wide player Juanlu Sanchez from Sevilla in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Juanlu Sanchez is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees are keen on reinforcing their defensive unit by signing a right-back in the summer transfer window. So, the 21-year-old Sevilla wide player has emerged as a target for the Merseyside outfit.

However, Everton will not be alone in the battle for the Spaniard’s signature, even though they are working on the deal to secure his services. Crystal Palace will also look to sign the youngster in the summer transfer window, with Sevilla demanding around €20 million to part ways with him.

Juanlu Sanchez and his career so far

Juanlu Sanchez has established himself as one of the best prospects in La Liga since breaking into the first-team squad at Sevilla FC. The Montequinto native spent his formative years in Spain, passing through the academies at three clubs and graduating from the youth division at Sevilla FC. Meanwhile, the 21-year-old made his senior bow for Los Nervionenses midway through the 2021/22 season.

However, the Spanish wide player enjoyed his breakthrough at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium in the 2023/24 season. Last year also saw him win the gold medal with Spain at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The youngster has over 50 outings for Sevilla while chipping in with six goals and eight assists. Meanwhile, his progress has not gone unnoticed, with Everton and Crystal Palace among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

Premier League move on the horizon?

Everton’s interest in Juanlu Sanchez makes sense. The Toffees are scouring the market for a right-back this summer after allowing Ashley Young to depart as a free agent. Additionally, Seamus Coleman is in the twilight of his career, and Nathan Patterson has struggled with fitness issues in the last few years. The Sevilla wide player has thus emerged as a viable target for Everton.

As for Crystal Palace, Daniel Munoz has been exceptional throughout his spell with the South London outfit. However, with Crystal Palace set to compete in Europe in the 2025/26 season, the Eagles need another right wing-back. So, the 21-year-old Spaniard is an option worth considering.

However, while Everton will face stiff competition from Crystal Palace for the Spanish wide player, they have begun the work to secure his services. Meanwhile, Sevilla will demand around €20 million to part ways with the Olympic gold medalist, making him an appealing target for the two Premier League clubs. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Juanlu.
