Manchester City plotting €100 million move for Rafael Leao
Manchester City could plot a big-money move for Rafael Leao, as AC Milan could think about a sale if the offer is good enough.
According to Fichajes, Manchester City could table a huge bid in the region of €100 million for Rafael Leao. The Portuguese international could be tempted by the prospect of joining the Premier League giants and playing under Pep Guardiola, as the manager looks to add an explosive presence in the final third.
Manchester City have had a decent window so far, with the expectation are that the club will add more options before the deadline. The club were active before their Club World Cup campaign, adding the likes of Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Ait-Nouri to reinforce areas that had problems last season.
As the market has progressed, Manchester City have added James Trafford to address their goalkeeping problems, and now they are alert to a big market opportunity. Pep Guardiola has had concerns over the productivity from the wings, as there are some questions about the performances of Savinho and Jeremy Doku.
Beyond the duo, they do not have clear-cut wide options in the squad, which is an area that Guardiola would like to reinforce. They had links to Rodrygo Goes, and now Manchester City are reportedly interested in Rafael Leao from AC Milan.
The report stated that Manchester City are ready to table a €100 million bid for the Portuguese international, in an attempt to lure him to the Etihad. The idea of playing under Guardiola and for the Premier League giants could prove tempting for Leao, but any move will depend on Milan’s asking price as well as their willingness to sell.
Manchester City to sign Rafael Leao?
Leao tends to explode in the final third, and while there are some questions about his defensive work rate, as long as he delivers in the attacking third, Guardiola may not care. They have missed the threat from the wide areas, which could see the manager target a big-money signing on the wings.
There are other teams in the mix for Leao, as Arsenal and Chelsea were credited with an interest in the attacker among other Premier League sides. However, should Manchester City realistically make a big approach, Milan might consider a sale, while the Portuguese international might be tempted by the move to play under Guardiola.
