Arsenal ready to sell Gabriel Jesus to Brazilian club
Arsenal are ready to sell Gabriel Jesus, possibly even this summer, as a return to Brazil remains an option, with Palmeiras linked.
According to Football Insider, Arsenal are likely to open the doors for Gabriel Jesus to exit the club if a suitable offer arrives. The striker is recovering from an ACL injury, which could make matters tricky for the Gunners to conduct a sale, but there is genuine interest from Brazil that includes former side Palmeiras.
Arsenal have got their striker in Viktor Gyokeres this summer, which allows Mikel Arteta to make tactical changes to his system ahead of the new season. A new centre-forward has been on the club’s agenda for the longest time, and finally, with the arrival of the Swede, there is plenty of optimism around the Emirates.
The former Sporting CP striker’s arrival also allows Arteta to juggle between him and Kai Havertz ahead of the opening period of the season, as the Gunners continue to miss the services of Gabriel Jesus. The Brazilian was an integral signing for the Gunners, and on his day, he can be unstoppable.
However, his time at the Emirates has been dominated by injuries, specifically to the knee, since he arrived in 2022. Back in January of this year, Gabriel Jesus suffered an ACL rupture, which has ruled him out of action since, and possibly hindered Arsenal’s chances of selling him this summer.
With Gyokeres’s arrival, Jesus will find himself as Arteta’s third-choice striker when he returns to fitness. The club are angling moves for further attackers this summer, as Andrea Berta has been open to selling the versatile Arsenal attacker, who cost the club £45 million back in 2022.
Brazil return on the cards for Gabriel Jesus?
A few clubs were being linked, including North London rivals Tottenham, but sources have indicated that a move across may not be on the cards. However, he could potentially return to his homeland, Brazil, as there are a few teams there interested.
While the report mentions Palmeiras as a potential option, earlier, a move to his former side was ruled out. However, if Arsenal are prepared for a fresh push to get Gabriel Jesus out of the club, then Palmeiras might make an effort to get a deal in place, although any move will depend on his fitness levels, particularly when he is recovering from an ACL issue.
