Liverpool plot player plus cash deal for Alexander Isak

Liverpool have identified four current stars that they could include in a deal for Alexander Isak to reduce the Swede’s asking price.

According to Sebastian Vidal, Liverpool are ready to offer one or two players in any deal to sign Alexander Isak. The club have identified four current first team stars, including Darwin Nunez, Harvey Elliott, Federico Chiesa and Tyler Morton, to persuade Newcastle United to reduce their asking price for the Swede.

The Alexander Isak saga took a new turn on Friday as Liverpool saw their official bid rejected by Newcastle United. The veracity of the figures offered are still unclear, but it appears their proposal was far below the British record mark the Merseysiders had previously suggested they would be willing to pay.

Isak already has an agreement on personal terms with Liverpool, but Newcastle United are not indicating they are ready to sell the striker. As things stand, Liverpool are not planning on a second bid unless the Magpies give them a green light and indicate they are willing to sell Isak.

The media reports have stated Newcastle United could ask as much as €150 million for their star striker. Liverpool might be in a strong position to pay as much, but they are now formulating a plan to include one or two players to help persuade the Magpies to reduce their asking price.

Liverpool identify four players from their current first team squad they can think about including, with the list comprising Darwin Nunez, Federico Chiesa, Harvey Elliott and Tyler Morton. The latter is getting close to joining Lyon, and the Magpies are unlikely to be interested in him or even Chiesa, as they are not eager to land a new winger at this moment.

Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliott are big options for Newcastle United

Newcastle United were interested in Elliott earlier, and with Liverpool ready to sell the attacking midfielder, the Magpies could potentially consider him as part of the Isak deal. However, Liverpool value the midfielder rather highly, and it remains to be seen how much of a price reduction they would seek should Elliott go the other way in the Isak deal.

As for Nunez, Liverpool are ready to sell the striker, although there are doubts whether the Magpies want him. Newcastle United are chasing Benjamin Sesko as Isak’s direct replacement, and hence, only Elliott makes sense from the four players Liverpool have identified to include in a deal for Isak.
