Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are interested in acquiring the services of Stade Rennais defensive sensation Jeremy Jacquet.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are keen on signing Jeremy Jacquet and have established initial contact to make their interest known. The Gunners could make a move this summer or continue to monitor him until next summer before launching a pursuit.

Jacquet has come up the ranks at Stade Rennais. He was promoted to the first team at the start of 2024 and spent a year on loan at Clermont Foot. He had quite an impressive loan spell as he featured in 24 matches for the second division outfit and even contributed towards four goals.

Following his return to his parent club at the start of the year, he ended up making a total of 12 first-team appearances. His sensational rise has put him on the radar of multiple top clubs, and Arsenal are one of them.

Rennais are well aware of the increasing interest in their 20-year-old defender. As a result, they secured his long-term future with a new deal at the start of the summer. While his new deal runs until June 2029, Arsenal could still try to lure him away ahead of the new season.

Arsenal want to sign Jacquet

Mikel Arteta’s team have been keeping a close eye on his progress and they are quite impressed with his performances. Arsenal rate him quite highly and believe he is a star in the making. As a result, they want to make him a part of their project.

Despite the new deal, they could end up making an offer for him this summer as he is quite high on their wishlist. However, it will depend on potential exits from the North London club. If they do not knock on the French club’s door this summer, the Gunners will continue to monitor him before they try to secure his services in 2026.

Given his massive potential and his ability to feature as a full-back as well as a defensive midfielder, the 20-year-old could prove to be a valuable addition to Arsenal’s squad in the long run. They want to ensure they wrap up his signing before other top clubs join the race.
