Lyon in talks to sign Tyler Morton, West Ham United have expressed interest

Liverpool midfielder Tyler Morton has been linked with a move away from the club, with West Ham United expressing their interest in signing him.

According to an update by Sky Sports journalists Mark McAdam and Vinny O’Connor, beleaguered Ligue 1 outfit Lyon are in talks to sign Tyler Morton, and it remains to be seen if West Ham will follow up on their interest with an official offer.

West Ham need defensive cover and control in midfield, and the Liverpool youngster could prove to be a solid long-term acquisition. The Englishman will likely be available for a reasonable amount, and he could be a future investment for the East London club.

West Ham must improve their squad this summer if they wish to do well next season, having been disappointing last time out and finishing close to the relegation zone. So, Morton has emerged as a viable target for the Irons.

A club of their stature should be pushing for a place in the top half. Morton could help them improve, and the move to London could also be ideal for the young midfielder. At this stage of his career, regular playing time is crucial, and West Ham would be able to provide him with that exposure.

West Ham move could be ideal for Morton

A move to France might be exciting as well. However, Lyon are facing uncertainties due to their financial problems, and West Ham may be a more stable club. The English midfielder has the physicality and technical attributes to excel in the Premier League, and he could develop into a key player for West Ham with the proper guidance.

Graham Potter has previously shown an aptitude for developing young players at Brighton & Hove Albion, and he could play a key role in Morton’s development. It will be interesting to see if Liverpool and West Ham can agree on a deal in the coming weeks.

Liverpool are well-stocked in midfield and will not be able to provide the 22-year-old with ample opportunities. It makes sense for them to sell the player this summer and invest the proceeds from his departure into the squad. With Lyon and West Ham pushing for his signature, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Englishman.
