Everton enter Franculino Dju chase
Everton will reportedly look to sign 21-year-old Guinea-Bissau international Franculino Dju from Danish club FC Midtjylland in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Africa Foot, Franculino Dju is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing another striker, even though they have already landed Thierno Barry in the summer transfer window. So, the 21-year-old FC Midtjylland centre-forward has emerged as a target for the Merseyside outfit.
The Toffees have approached the African attacker’s entourage to discuss a summer move, hoping to secure his services before the transfer window shuts down. However, Everton will face stiff competition from Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund for the Midtjylland striker’s signature.
Who is Franculino Dju?
Franculino Dju is the latest African prospect to rise in prominence at FC Midtjylland. The Danish giants have groomed several prodigies, with Ousmane Diomande making his mark at the MCH Arena before joining a more distinguished club. As for the 23-year-old, he was born in Guinea-Bissau but spent his formative years in Portugal.
The Guinea-Bissau international graduated from the youth division at SL Benfica before moving to FC Midtjylland in July 2023. While Dju has been impressive in the last two seasons, he has started the 2025/26 campaign with a bang, amassing five goals and one assist in four outings in all competitions. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs, including Everton.
Premier League move on the horizon?
Everton’s interest in Franculino Dju is understandable. The Toffees are scouring the market for another striker despite signing Thierno Barry from Villarreal earlier in the summer transfer window. Recent reports have linked Beto with a move away from the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with Atalanta keen on securing his services.
Several strikers, including Jamie Vardy, have emerged on Everton’s radar, with Dju also a viable target for the Merseyside outfit. The Toffees have already established contact with the African attacker’s entourage, hoping to seal a deal before the summer transfer window shuts down.
However, Everton will not be alone in the battle for Dju’s signature, with Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund also keen on signing him in the summer transfer window. The two Bundesliga giants can offer UEFA Champions League football, and the 23-year-old Guinea-Bissau international has a crucial decision to ponder over in the coming weeks.
