Armando Broja set to join Burnley, fee could be worth £20 million
Chelsea outcast Armando Broja is all set to join newly promoted side Burnley in a deal that could be worth £20 million.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Armando Broja’s nightmare at Chelsea will soon come to an end as Burnley have reached an agreement to sign the Albanian international. The 23-year-old striker will pen a long-term deal with the Clarets once he undergoes a medical at his new club within the next 24 hours.
Broja joined the Chelsea youth setup back in 2009. He went up the ranks at some pace and got promoted to the first team back in 2022. While the Blues were well aware of his massive potential, things didn’t really work out for him at Stamford Bridge.
He failed to establish himself as a key figure in the team and has spent the last 18 months out on loan. The 23-year-old was on loan at Everton for the 2024/25 season. Unfortunately, the move didn’t work out as he struggled to stay fit and could only feature in 11 matches for the Toffees.
While he is back at Stamford Bridge and still has three years remaining on his deal, he is not part of Enzo Maresca’s plans. Given the number of forwards the Blues have signed this summer, there is no room for Broja. The player is aware of the situation, and his camp has been actively working to find him a new club.
Burnley sign Broja permanently
Meanwhile, Chelsea are open to negotiating his departure for the right price. Multiple clubs have been linked with him, but Burnley have shown the most serious interest. The Clarets want more firepower in the final third as they want to ensure they have enough quality to survive in the top flight.
While Broja has struggled with injuries, he certainly has the ability to succeed at the highest level. As a result, Burnley is willing to bet on him. They have reached an agreement with the Blues to secure his services on a permanent basis.
As per a report from the BBC, the Albanian international will be signing a five-year deal with the Clarets. While the exact fee hasn’t been revealed, the report suggests it could be worth around £20 million.
Chelsea have accepted all conditions related to the transfer, and Broja is expected to undergo his medical within the next 24 hours. The Blues will be happy with the fee they have managed to raise, while Burnley will hope it proves to be a bargain.
