Jacob Ramsey uninterested in joining Everton or West Ham United, Tottenham keen
Everton and West Ham United have received a massive blow in their pursuit of Tottenham midfield target Jacob Ramsey.
According to Graeme Bailey via TBR, Everton, West Ham United, and Tottenham are all keen on signing Jacob Ramsey, who seems to be open to leaving Aston Villa this summer. However, he will only join a top club and has already turned down approaches from the Toffees and the Hammers.
Ramsey has come up the ranks at Villa and has been a part of their first team setup since the summer of 2020. While the 24-year-old midfielder is quite highly rated by people at Villa Park, he hasn’t had enough game time under Unai Emery of late.
He was involved in a total of 45 matches last season but was on the pitch for just over 2,200 minutes. Ramsey isn’t pleased with the limited game time he has had, and his future has become a big talking point. He seems open to leaving Villa if the right opportunity comes his way.
While speaking about his future to TBR, Bailey said: “Jacob Ramsey is a fantastic player, and it is no wonder clubs are asking, but it is going to take the right opportunity to get him. He has serious World Cup ambitions.
“And Villa too, if they did consider a sale, it would take a significant offer.”
The 24-year-old is keen on making it to the England squad for the World Cup next summer. He wants to ensure he is playing regularly next season to break into Thomas Tuchel’s team. If Emery can’t guarantee him a prominent role, he is ready to make a move away.
With just two years left on his current contract, Villa have been trying to tie him down to a new deal, but they haven’t made any significant progress in renewal talks. As a result, Emery’s team are ready to listen to offers, but they will only let him leave for a significant fee.
Will Ramsey end up leaving Aston Villa?
West Ham and Everton are both keen on his signature; they want more quality out wide on the flanks and feel the versatile English midfielder could help their cause. While they did make any enquiry about him, Ramsey is not interested in joining them.
He will only leave Villa to join a bigger club with an important project, and has already shunned interest from quite a few clubs. While he has turned down the opportunity to join Everton or West Ham, he remains on the wishlist of Tottenham.
Having failed to secure the services of Morgan Gibbs-White, the North London club are now looking at other options, and Ramsey seems to be quite high on their wishlist.
He could certainly be a valuable addition to Thomas Frank’s team, and a move to Spurs could interest him. However, it will be interesting to see if Tottenham do come forward with a formal offer.
