Alexander Isak has turned down Manchester United transfer, has heart set on Liverpool

Alexander Isak has reportedly turned down an approach from Manchester United as he remains intent on joining Liverpool amid the ongoing saga.

According to Florian Plettenberg, Alexander Isak has turned down an approach from Manchester United. The striker has set his heart on joining Liverpool with personal terms already in place over a six-year deal with the Merseysiders as his saga with Newcastle United rumbles on.

Manchester United’s need for a new striker remains well known across media channels. They are exploring moves for several options, with Benjamin Sesko their current priority target. However, they may have made an approach for the unsettled Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.

Isak has reportedly turned down the approach from Manchester United, which seems rather logical from what the player wants to achieve with his next move. He was not expected to leave Champions League playing for Newcastle United for a team not in the competition.

Moreover, the player has set his heart on joining Liverpool, as the Isak saga rumbles on. The player has gone on strike and was absent from their pre-season tour of Asia. During this period, he handed in a transfer request to force a move through as Liverpool’s interest intensified in the 25-year-old.

Isak already has an agreement on personal terms with Liverpool over a six-year contract, with the Merseysiders continuing to push to get the striker on board. Liverpool are expected to push for a move if Newcastle United signs a striker, although there has been a big twist in the tale on Friday.

Alexander Isak saga rumbles on

With Isak currently training alone at the facilities of his former club Real Sociedad in Spain, the optics are not looking good for Newcastle United. The club does not wish to sell him, and that showed when Liverpool launched an official bid for the striker on Friday, which was rejected.

As things stand, Liverpool are reportedly not preparing an improved offer, owing to the manner of Newcastle United’s rejection of their official bid. However, with five more weeks left in the transfer window, there’s every chance for the Merseysiders to re-enter the chase for the 25-year-old striker.
