Milan Among Teams Linked to Roma Center-Forward

Artem Dovbyk said he would stay at Roma shortly after the arrival of Gian Piero Gasperini, but that’s not necessarily the case and, among other clubs, he’s been proposed to Milan by intermediaries, Matteo Moretto relays (via Tuttomercatoweb).

The Rossoneri are indeed looking for a striker, but they are unlikely to break the bank to add one. They are waiting in the wings for Dusan Vlahovic to become a bargain if Juventus convince him to leave. Instead, the capital club would need to recoup last year’s investment and demand €40M or so for the Ukrainian striker.

Milan could consider Dovbyk later in the summer if the conditions changed. They have been testing the waters for outcasts from top teams who could transfer on loan with an option to buy. If they couldn’t find somebody they like better, they could bring in Tolu Arokodare from Genk.

The future of the former Girona star is uncertain. He’s drawing interest from England, in particular from Leeds United, West Ham, and Newcastle United, and Spain, as Villarreal and Betis have inquired, ReteSport informs. Per La Repubblica, a swap is possible. The Giallorossi would like to bring back Gianluca Scamacca, who’s a youth product, sending their man to Atalanta in return.

Our Take on Dovbyk and Milan

Aside from having a slightly better resume due to his success in La Liga, he’s older, not much different from, and not a real upgrade over Santiago Gimenez, and he’s not cheap either. Roma will be in a pickle if Gian Piero Gasperini doesn’t consider him suitable for his style, given how much they spent for him. Still, the boss has worked wonders with lesser players in that position.
