Leeds United enter Arnaud Kalimuendo race, Tottenham make move
Leeds United will reportedly compete with Tottenham to sign 23-year-old French striker Arnaud Kalimuendo from Ligue 1 club Stade Rennais in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Arnaud Kalimuendo is the subject of interest from Leeds United. The Whites are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a striker in the summer transfer window. So, the 23-year-old Stade Rennais centre-forward has emerged as a target for the newly promoted Premier League club, with Tottenham Hotspur also vying for his signature.
Apart from Leeds United, Nottingham Forest will compete with Tottenham for the Frenchman’s signature, with the two Premier League clubs in contact with the Rennes striker’s representatives. Meanwhile, the Ligue 1 club will demand around £30 million to part ways with Kalimuendo in the summer transfer window.
Arnaud Kalimuendo and his progress
Arnaud Kalimuendo has landed on his feet since joining Stade Rennais from Paris Saint-Germain in August 2022. The Suresnes native graduated from the youth division at PSG, but he rose in prominence during his time on loan at RC Lens. As for his ongoing stint, the 23-year-old has made considerable progress in the last three years.
The French striker has turned out over 100 times thus far for Stade Rennais while chipping in with 40 goals and 14 assists. Meanwhile, Kalimuendo’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe. Premier League outfits, in particular, are keen on signing him, with Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.
Premier League move on the horizon?
Arnaud Kalimuendo has been on Leeds United’s radar for a long time. The continued interest is understandable, considering Patrick Bamford has no future at Elland Road, and Mateo Joseph wants to return to Spain in the summer transfer window. So, Leeds United can do with another striker this summer, with the former PSG wonderkid emerging as a viable target.
As for Tottenham Hotspur, Dominic Solanke struggled in his debut season due to injuries and poor form. So, an alternative to the English international is necessary for Tottenham, with the Stade Rennais striker being an option worth considering for the North London club. The Lilywhites have contacted the Frenchman’s entourage to discuss a summer move, with the Ligue 1 club demanding around £30 million to part ways with him.
Apart from Leeds United and Tottenham, Nottingham Forest will also look to sign Kalimuendo, with the Tricky Trees in touch with his representatives. It will be interesting to see if the three Premier League clubs fork out around £30 million to sign the 23-year-old French striker from Stade Rennais.
