Galatasaray want Manchester City to reduce Ederson Moraes price
Turkish champions Galatasaray reportedly want Manchester City to reduce their asking price to part ways with 31-year-old Brazilian international Ederson Moraes to €7-8 million.
According to a report by Sabah, as relayed by Sport Witness, Ederson Moraes is the subject of interest from Galatasaray. The Turkish giants are keen on reinforcing their first-team squad by signing a goalkeeper in the summer transfer window. So, the 31-year-old Manchester City shot-stopper has emerged as a target for Cimbom.
However, Manchester City’s asking price is a problem for Galatasaray, and they want the Premier League giants to reduce their valuation to around €7-8 million. Meanwhile, personal terms will not pose an issue, with Yagiz Sabuncoglu suggesting the 2024/25 Turkish Super Lig champions have struck an agreement with the veteran goalkeeper.
Ederson Moraes and his rapid rise
Ederson Moraes has been one of the best goalkeepers in the world since joining Manchester City from SL Benfica in a deal worth €40 million in July 2017. While the 31-year-old has gradually become an error-prone shot-stopper in the last few years, his ability on the ball is second to none among goalkeepers.
The Brazilian international has turned out over 350 times thus far for Manchester City while keeping 168 clean sheets and conceding 311 goals. However, the veteran goalkeeper’s long-term future at Manchester City is uncertain, with Galatasaray among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.
Turkish adventure awaits?
Galatasaray’s interest in Ederson Moraes is understandable. The Turkish champions are scouring the market for a world-class goalkeeper this summer after parting ways with their long-serving captain, Fernando Muslera, who has moved to Argentina. So, the Manchester City mainstay has emerged as a viable target for Galatasaray.
The 2024/25 Turkish Super Lig winners have struck an agreement on personal terms with the former SL Benfica goalkeeper, and they want to finalise a deal soon. However, Manchester City’s asking price is an issue for Galatasaray, and they want the Citizens to reduce their valuation to around €7-8 million.
While the 31-year-old Brazilian international is one step closer to joining Galatasaray after the agreement on personal terms, it is unclear if Manchester City will be open to recouping €7-8 million from his sale. So, Cimbom must face a waiting period before landing Ederson in the summer transfer window.
