Artem Dovbyk price an issue amid Leeds United, West Ham United links
Leeds United and West Ham United may not agree with AS Roma’s €40 million asking price for striker target Artem Dovbyk.
According to Corriere della Sera via Sport Witness, AS Roma’s €40 million asking price for striker Artem Dovbyk could prove challenging for the likes of Leeds United and West Ham United. The Premier League duo are eager to sign the Ukrainian, who may not prefer a switch to England and might lean towards a return to Spain if he were to leave the Italian capital.
Artem Dovbyk had a modest first season with Roma since his big arrival from Girona last summer. The striker’s stock were very high following a goal-laden season in La Liga, but his time in the Italian capital might be cut short abruptly.
The main reason for that is the arrival of Gian Piero Gasperini as Roma’s new manager, who reportedly does not view Dovbyk as part of his system. There’s no direct communication to the striker to leave, but the report emphasises that the Ukrainian may not fit the new manager’s style.
Dovbyk is happy in the Italian capital, but should he depart, there’s a preference to make a return to Spain over joining a Premier League club. Leeds United and West Ham United are interested in the attacker, but Roma’s €40 million asking price is considered excessive at the current moment.
The two teams are in the market for a striker to improve their respective squads, and also have Inter Milan’s Mehdi Taremi on their list. Meanwhile, they might look for alternatives for the €40 million-rated Serie A striker if he does not want to move to England and more importantly, if they cannot agree on paying Roma’s asking price.
Leeds United and West Ham are keen on a striker
Leeds United are back in the Premier League, and their priority is to stay alive in the top flight when the upcoming campaign ends. There are a few names on their list, as Daniel Farke will hope to add a quality striker to his ranks before the window shuts, and it could still be Dovbyk.
Meanwhile. West Ham have had clear issues in the striker department last season, and hence, to no one’s surprise, they are targetting a new No.9. Patrik Schick is an option being mentioned, and there are other names too, as Graham Potter will aim to bring in a player who will score plenty of goals and improve their chances.
