Tottenham Hotspur ready to pay €70 million for Illia Zabarnyi, player wants PSG move

Tottenham are willing to test the waters for Illia Zabarnyi by paying €70 million to Bournemouth, but the player has other ideas.

According to RMC Sport, Tottenham are still in the mix for Illia Zabarnyi and are willing to spend as much as €70 million for the defender. The Ukrainian has his heart set on joining PSG this summer, and will likely reject other overtures in favour of a move to Paris.

Tottenham have had a few setbacks this summer with regards to prising away their top targets. While they were quick to snap up Mohammed Kudus, they did make headlines a few days later after reportedly agreeing a deal for Morgan Gibbs-White. However, with a legal threat from Nottingham Forest and the player subsequently signing a new deal with the club, a move for the England international was called off.

There’s another player who they could potentially miss out on, despite holding a big interest in defender Illia Zabarnyi. The Ukrainian has had a tremendous season with Bournemouth and is widely expected to join his former defensive colleagues Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez in departing Andoni Iraola’s side this summer.

Spurs are willing to put forward €70 million to sign the Bournemouth defender, as they continue to look for top-notch signings to improve their squad. Zabarnyi has his heart set on a move to PSG, with the report stating that the defender already has an agreement on personal terms over a five-year contract.

Zabarnyi is ready to reject a host of other teams, including Chelsea and Liverpool, to join PSG. Talks between the Parisians and Bournemouth, as there are wider expectations for the two clubs to reach an agreement in the coming period.

Tottenham to miss out on Zabarnyi

Spurs have a lot of decisions to make regarding some of their existing stars, more so on Cristian Romero. The Argentine was heavily linked with a switch to Atletico Madrid, but since Tottenham rejected a reported approach, the Spanish giants have somewhat abandoned the chase.

The idea of chasing someone like Zabarnyi does indicate that Tottenham want to keep themselves covered in the event of Romero’s late departure. However, they are set to suffer a blow in the chase for the Ukrainian, as he’s determined to join PSG.
