Newcastle United keen on signing Nicolas Jackson
Newcastle United have reportedly joined the race to sign 24-year-old Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson in the summer transfer window.
Nicolas Jackson continues to be linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, and it remains to be seen whether Newcastle United can finalise a deal. The Magpies need to strengthen their attacking options, especially with Alexander Isak potentially leaving the club.
According to TEAMtalk, Manchester United have ruled out a move for Jackson, giving Newcastle a free run at the player, who is reportedly valued at £60 million. Although Jackson has not been prolific since joining Chelsea, he has still proven to be a useful squad player and could contribute significantly at St. James’ Park.
Newcastle United have qualified for next season’s UEFA Champions League, and they are looking to establish themselves as a regular European contender. They need greater depth in the attacking department, and Jackson would offer versatility and athleticism. The club is also eyeing other forwards, including Benjamin Sesko, as potential options.
If Newcastle United can bring in two quality attackers to replace Isak, it would be a smart move. Jackson, in particular, could thrive in Eddie Howe’s high-pressing system, and the versatile Chelsea attacker would add valuable depth to the front line.
Meanwhile, Manchester United still need a quality striker. Although the Red Devils have moved on from Nicolas Jackson, they are now reportedly targeting Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa. They have struggled offensively, and signing a reliable goalscorer remains a top priority.
Chelsea do not need Jackson
As for Chelsea, the Blues have already signed Liam Delap and Joao Pedro earlier this summer, indicating a changing strategy in their attacking lineup. Jackson is unlikely to be given regular opportunities moving forward. If Chelsea can recover the reported £60 million from his sale, it would represent smart business, allowing them to further invest in other areas.
Chelsea will be hoping to fight for the title and other domestic trophies this season. They need more quality on the side, and selling some of their underperforming players would allow them to bring in quality alternatives.
