Federico Chiesa turns down Fenerbahce, wants Serie A return

Federico Chiesa reportedly has no interest in joining Fenerbahce, as the Liverpool misfit wants to return to Serie A, with AC Milan and Napoli keen on signing him.

According to an update by French journalist Sebastien Vidal, Federico Chiesa is the subject of interest from Fenerbahce. However, the Liverpool outcast has ruled out a summer move to the Turkish club, as he wants to return to Serie A. AC Milan and Napoli are the front-runners to land the Italian international in the summer transfer window. However, a report by Calciomercato has suggested that Chiesa’s €7 million-a-year wages pose an issue.

Federico Chiesa and his struggles

Federico Chiesa was already struggling for consistency before joining Liverpool from Juventus last summer. However, the Genova native has hit a brick wall since moving to Anfield, with regular game time eluding him in his debut season with the Merseyside outfit.

The 27-year-old has yet to complete even 500 minutes of game time across 14 appearances for Liverpool, managing only two goals and two assists. However, Chiesa’s stock in the market remains high, particularly in his homeland, with AC Milan and Napoli among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the summer transfer window. In addition, he is a target for Fenerbahce.

A man in demand

AC Milan will dip into the market for several more signings despite being active thus far in the summer transfer window. The Rossoneri will aim to turn things around in the 2025/26 season under Massimiliano Allegri after enduring a dreadful 2024/25 campaign. So, the Italian winger has emerged as a target for AC Milan.

Meanwhile, Napoli’s interest in Federico Chiesa makes sense. The Serie A champions have bolstered their offensive unit by signing Noa Lang, but Antonio Conte wants more firepower in the final third. The Italian tactician’s coaching may be beneficial for Chiesa amid his struggles to make his mark for Liverpool.

As for Fenerbahce, Allan Saint-Maximin has returned to Al-Ahli after his loan spell in the 2024/25 season. In addition, Dusan Tadic has left the Turkish club after his contract expired. So, Chiesa is a viable target for Fenerbahce. However, the Liverpool misfit has rejected the Turkish Super Lig giants, as he wants to return to Serie A in the summer transfer window.

Sebastien Vidal has suggested that AC Milan and Napoli are the front-runners to sign Chiesa. However, the report by Calciomercato has revealed that the Liverpool outcast’s €7 million-a-year wages pose a problem for the Serie A giants. With Liverpool ready to cash in on the 27-year-old Italian international, he should return to Italy soon.
