Antonio Conte ready to bring Raheem Sterling to Napoli, talks held

Antonio Conte has reportedly given the green light to Napoli to sign 30-year-old English international Raheem Sterling from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Raheem Sterling is the subject of interest from Napoli. The Serie A giants are keen on reinforcing their offensive unit by signing a versatile wide attacker in the summer transfer window. So, the 30-year-old Chelsea misfit has emerged as a target for the Partenopei.

Antonio Conte has approved Napoli’s move for Sterling, with the former Chelsea manager ready to take the Englishman to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium. The 2024/25 Serie A winners have already spoken with the struggling attacker’s entourage over a possible move in the summer transfer window.

Raheem Sterling and his situation

Raheem Sterling has seen his stock steadily reduce since joining Chelsea from Manchester City in a deal worth £50 million in July 2022. The 30-year-old showed flashes of brilliance in his debut season but blew hot and cold in the 2023/24 campaign. The experienced attacker’s stock plummeted last summer, with Enzo Maresca not having the player in his plans.

The English international never got going at Arsenal, managing only 1,143 minutes of game time in 28 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal while producing a paltry tally of one goal and five assists. So, Sterling has returned to Chelsea, where he has no future. Napoli will aim to hand him an escape route in the summer transfer window, with Antonio Conte approving the summer move.

Serie A move on the horizon?

Napoli’s interest in Raheem Sterling makes sense. The Serie A champions are scouring the market for a wide attacker this summer, even though they have bolstered their wide attacking options by signing Noa Lang from PSV Eindhoven. However, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has left a gaping hole in the offensive unit at Napoli, compelling them to seek another wide attacker from the market.

So, Sterling has emerged as a viable target, with intermediaries also offering his services to the Serie A club. The latest update has suggested that Antonio Conte has given the green light to Napoli, with the Partenopei contacting the 30-year-old Englishman’s entourage to discuss a possible summer move.

With Antonio Conte keen on adding an experienced attacker to his squad’s offensive unit, Sterling is an appealing target. It will be interesting to see how the talks between Napoli and Chelsea progress in the coming weeks, with the English international having no future at Stamford Bridge.
