Tottenham turn attention to Harvey Elliott after Morgan Gibbs-White snub

Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly pursue 22-year-old Liverpool whizkid Harvey Elliott after Morgan Gibbs-White snubbed the North London club.

According to a report by French journalist Sebastien Vidal, Harvey Elliott is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites are keen on reinforcing their first-team squad by signing a versatile playmaker in the summer transfer window. So, the 22-year-old Liverpool whizkid is a target for the North London club.

Tottenham came close to signing Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest before he decided to remain with the high-flying Premier League. So, the 22-year-old Liverpool prospect has emerged as an alternative to his compatriot, “as the club continues to search for creativity”.

Harvey Elliott and his frustrating Liverpool spell

Harvey Elliott has endured an unsatisfactory stint since joining Liverpool from Fulham in July 2019. While the youngster arrived at Anfield amid hype surrounding him half a dozen years ago, regular game time has eluded him. The 22-year-old did not even manage 1,000 minutes of game time across 28 appearances in all competitions in the 2024/25 season while chipping in with five goals and three assists.

However, Elliott’s stock in the market remains high, with several well-known clubs across Europe setting their sights on him. Premier League outfits, in particular, are keen on signing the English youth international in the summer transfer window, with Tottenham Hotspur among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

London return on the horizon?

Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Harvey Elliott is understandable. The Lilywhites are scouring the market for a versatile playmaker this summer after James Maddison blew hot and cold in the 2024/25 season. In addition, the former Leicester City star has struggled with fitness issues throughout his spell with the North London club.

Morgan Gibbs-White thus emerged as Tottenham’s top target, with the North London club coming close to securing his services. However, the Englishman has committed his future to Nottingham Forest, forcing Tottenham to look elsewhere for an alternative. So, Elliott has emerged on the North London club’s wishlist.

The 22-year-old Liverpool whizkid is on Tottenham’s radar, “as the club continues to search for creativity”. It will be interesting to see if the former Fulham wonderkid continues his career by moving across the Premier League in the summer transfer window.
