Tottenham in talks to sign Rodrygo Goes
Thomas Frank’s Tottenham are in talks to sign Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes, who is yet to make a decision on his future.
According to Ramon Alvarez de Mon, Tottenham are keen on acquiring the services of Rodrygo Goes, and they are already holding talks to bring the Real Madrid star to North London. With Liverpool also interested in his signature, Spurs are waiting to see if the Reds do make a move.
Rodrygo has only gone from strength to strength since joining Los Blancos from Santos back in 2019. While he was one of their mainstays until last season, things seem to have changed following the arrival of Xabi Alonso.
Despite being fully fit, the 24-year-old only accumulated 92 minutes out of a possible 540 at the Club World Cup. The lack of involvement during the global event was an indication that he is no longer a guaranteed starter for the team in white.
With a World Cup coming up in 12 months’ time, Rodrygo wants to ensure he is playing regular football in the new season. As a result, there has been a lot of uncertainty around his future.
Real Madrid are reportedly ready to cash in on the 24-year-old versatile forward as long as their demands are met. While multiple top clubs are interested in his signature and are keeping a close eye on his situation, they have yet to table an offer for him.
Premier League giants could battle it out for Rodrygo
Liverpool and Tottenham are two Premier League outfits that have been linked with the Brazilian international. The Reds are looking for more quality on the left flank amidst uncertainty around Luis Diaz’s future. While they are keen on his signature, they are yet to make a move.
Meanwhile, Spurs are already in talks to sign the Real Madrid star, but they are waiting to see if the Merseyside club tables an offer in the near future. With skipper Son Heung-min expected to be on the move, Rodrygo could be an ideal long-term replacement.
While the financial side of things could be a massive challenge for Spurs, they might not regret spending big on a proven star like him. As far as the player is concerned, he is yet to make a decision on his future. Despite not being guaranteed a regular starting role in the team, he could actually choose to continue in Madrid.
