Liverpool, West Ham United enter Idrissa Gueye chase, Crystal Palace submit enquiry

A host of Premier League sides are interested in 18-year-old Ligue 1 striker prodigy Idrissa Gueye from French side Metz.

According to Football Insider, Idrissa Gueye is a big target for many of the teams in the Premier League. The teenage attacker from Metz is attracting considerable interest from the English top flight, with Liverpool, West Ham and Crystal Palace all interested.

There are as many as six teams from the Premier League that are interested in Idrissa Gueye for different reasons. Not each one of them is looking at the 18-year-old striker prodigy as a potential key star for their respective sides, as the role offered to the teenage striker could have an effect on his choice in the end.

Gueye, who joined French side Metz, then in Ligue 2 from Generation Foot in January, has since gone on to shine for the French outfit. His six goals in a short span have allowed Metz to reclaim a spot in Ligue 1 for the upcoming season, as they have been open to selling the striker for £17 million.

Manchester United are keen and remain interested in Idrissa Gueye, but the entry of many other teams offering roles of varying degrees could let the teenager choose his next club carefully. Crystal Palace are among four English sides who have enquired about the 18-year-old striker prodigy, while others like West Ham and Liverpool are monitoring his situation.

Palace are about to make some key changes to their setup before the transfer window shuts, especially due to key departures. For instance, Eberechi Eze could leave amid his links with Arsenal, while there are fresh doubts about Jean-Philippe Mateta and others. So, adding a new attacker could be a big necessity. Hence, the links to Gueye make sense, as Oliver Glasner could help develop the teenager into a proper star.

Liverpool and West Ham in Idrissa Gueye links

Liverpool are moving big in this market, and have already secured Hugo Ekitike as their key striker acquisition. Meanwhile, they remain heavily linked with Alexander Isak, which could make the No.9 position difficult to penetrate for any other player, which could influence Gueye’s decision if the Reds are to make an effort to sign him.

West Ham, on the other hand, are keen to add to their forward line, amid links to Roberto Piccoli among others. They have a big gap to fill in the centre-forward role, hence the links to a young prospect like Idrissa Gueye, who has massive room to develop into a top star at the London Stadium.
