Liverpool schedule Alexander Isak talks tomorrow

Liverpool have scheduled fresh talks for Alexander Isak on Monday as they seek a quick answer from Newcastle United on the player’s immediate future.

According to Sebastian Vidal, Liverpool have scheduled fresh talks for Alexander Isak with Newcastle United on Monday. The Merseysiders are determined to sign the Swedish striker and are prepared to break the Premier League record or the British record with this transfer, as they seek a quick answer from the Magpies.

It’s been a tremendous week with regards to the Alexander Isak saga. Having missed the pre-season tour of Asia, the early reasons were pointed towards a potential injury, but it appears the player has been thinking about a switch.

Before that, Liverpool had enquired to understand whether Newcastle United would sell, and that would have turned Isak’s head towards a move. Earlier this week, Isak handed in a transfer request to force the issue as he seeks an exit out of Newcastle United this summer, with further indications that he might even refuse to sign a new contract.

Isak is determined to join Liverpool this summer, and the Merseysiders are prepared to break the Premier League record to get the Swede on board. The Reds have internally opted to go all out for the Newcastle United man even though they only recently signed Hugo Ekitike in a huge deal from Eintracht Frankfurt.

Liverpool had reportedly indicated paying £120 million for Isak, which would shatter the Premier League record for a single player. Newcastle United would probably seek a higher fee, which some reports have stated could go up to £150 million or even more.

Will Newcastle United sell Alexander Isak?

The pressure is truly on Newcastle United to act in a way that protects the club’s future. In theory, they can still refuse any bid from Liverpool and keep hold of Isak until 2028 when his contract originally ends. However, they could risk losing his value even if they plan on selling him next summer, and will have an unhappy player in their ranks, especially one of their most important stars.

Liverpool’s pressure could potentially persuade Newcastle United to give in, although under no circumstances will they sell the player on the cheap. Liverpool, for their part, are willing to pay top dollar, which the Magpies will potentially accept, although there’s no clarity on their actual asking price for the striker.
