Gabriel Jesus unlikely to rejoin Palmeiras this summer
Palmeiras will unlikely re-sign 28-year-old Brazilian international Gabriel Jesus in the summer transfer window due to Arsenal’s asking price of €30 million.
According to a report by Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte, Gabriel Jesus is the subject of interest from Palmeiras. The doors of the Brazilian giants are always open to re-sign the former Manchester City attacker whenever he wishes to return to Allianz Parque. The player has also used the club’s training facilities amid his rehabilitation process.
However, a move for this summer’s transfer window is unrealistic. Arsenal will demand around €30 million to part ways with the Sao Paulo native in the summer transfer window, and Palmeiras cannot afford to fork out that fee to re-sign Jesus. However, a move to Flamengo may be on the cards, as per a report by Brazilian outlet RTI Esporte.
Gabriel Jesus and his time at Arsenal so far
Gabriel Jesus has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Arsenal from Manchester City in a deal worth €52 million in July 2022. The 28-year-old has shown flashes of brilliance in the last three years, but he has also blown hot and cold throughout his spell with the North London club.
In addition, the Brazilian international has struggled with fitness issues, with the latest injury sidelining him for the second half of the 2024/25 season after he ruptured his ACL. The former Manchester City attacker has turned out nearly 100 times thus far for Arsenal while chipping in with 26 goals and 20 assists. However, Jesus faces an uncertain future at the Emirates midway through the summer transfer window.
What next?
Recent reports have suggested that Arsenal would be happy to entertain bids to part ways with Gabriel Jesus in the summer transfer window. However, the former Manchester City attacker’s uncertain fitness situation threatens to scupper a summer departure from the Emirates.
Nevertheless, Jesus has been a target for former club Palmeiras, with the Brazilian giants happy to take him back under acceptable conditions. The Sao Paulo native has also used the club’s facilities to resume training after being on the sidelines all year due to a long-term knee injury.
However, Arsenal’s asking price of €30 million has forced Palmeiras to rule out a summer move. While the North London club’s valuation of €30 million seems fair, Palmeiras cannot afford to fork out the sum. However, a return to Brazil may be on the cards, with Flamengo keen on securing his services in the summer transfer window.
