David Moyes’s Everton are reportedly closing in on signing Belgian attacking sensation Malick Fofana from Lyon this summer.

After a slow start to the transfer window, Everton have finally stepped up their efforts to bolster their squad ahead of next season. They have already secured the agreement to sign Adam Aznou, who is expected to undergo his medical on Sunday and are now focused on signing Malick Fofana.

According to an update by reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Toffees have identified Fofana as a top target to reinforce their attack. They are already in advanced talks with Lyon, and the yare also pushing to agree on personal terms with the Belgian sensation.

Malick Fofana came up the ranks at KAA Gent and made a name for himself while playing for their first team before joining Lyon at the start of 2024. He has only gone from strength to strength since moving to France.

The 20-year-old winger has established himself as a key figure in the Lyon first team, and on the back of his impressive performances for the Ligue 1 club, he has broken into the Belgian national team.

While Malick Fofana still has three years left on his deal at Lyon, multiple top clubs are ready to prise him away. The Ligue 1 giants do not have the best of financial situations; as a result, they could cash in on the youngster for the right price.

Everton closing in on Fofana’s signature

Multiple top clubs have been linked with Malick Fofana, but of late, Everton have emerged as a potential destination. David Moyes seeks more quality in the final third. He is a massive admirer of Fofana and believes he could do wonders for them.

Not only will his arrival strengthen the left flank, but the 20-year-old can feature anywhere in attack when needed. The Toffees have him as a priority target, and they are in advanced talks with Lyon as both clubs look to reach a common ground.

Another report from Romano suggested that Everton have already submitted an official bid for the Belgian international. The Toffees haved continued their talks with Lyon while establishing contact with the player’s camp.
