Arsenal reach agreement in principle to sign Eberechi Eze as Andrea Berta goes all in
Arsenal have reportedly secured a broad agreement to sign 27-year-old Crystal Palace attacker Eberechi Eze in the summer transfer window.
According to an update by French journalist Sebastien Vidal, Andrea Berta has decided to go all-in to sign Eberechi Eze, and Arsenal have agreed to pay £30 million upfront for the Crystal Palace playmaker. They are now looking to negotiate the payment structure for the remainder of the fee.
Crystal Palace want to receive the remainder of the fee within two years, and it will be interesting to see if Arsenal agree to that. The English international has a £68 million release clause in his contract, and Arsenal have no problem paying that if the payment structure is feasible.
The 27-year-old deserves to play at a higher level, especially after delivering the FA Cup for Crystal Palace last season. Moving to Arsenal could be ideal for him. The Gunners could provide him with the platform to fight for Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League.
The England international will now look to test himself at the highest level, and joining an elite club would be ideal for him. Arsenal are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and the opportunity to play for them can be hard to turn down.
Arsenal need someone like Eze
Arsenal have been fighting for Premier League titles while reaching the latter stages of the UEFA Champions League in recent seasons. The Gunners came close to winning the league title in the last few campaigns, but they have not been able to get over the line. It remains to be seen whether players like Eze can finally help them get across the line in the upcoming campaign.
The Englishman scored 14 goals last season and created 11 assists. Eze is versatile enough to operate on either flank as well as centrally, and he could be an asset for Arsenal. The player is in the prime of his career, and he will look to hit the ground running at Arsenal and make an immediate impact. It remains to be seen whether Arsenal can wrap up the move quickly.
The Gunners have not been able to rotate their squad due to the lack of depth, and the arrival of players like Eze and Viktor Gyorkeres will certainly help them compete with the elite clubs and give Mikel Arteta more options to work with. Meanwhile, Sebastien Vidal has revealed that QPR will benefit from the transfer as well. They inserted a 20% sell-on clause in his contract when they sold Eze to Crystal Palace.
