Nottingham Forest interested in Chelsea attacker Christopher Nkunku
Nuno Espirito Santo’s Nottingham Forest are interested in acquiring the services of Chelsea misfit Christopher Nkunku.
Christopher Nkunku is expected to part ways with Chelsea this summer as he is no longer an integral part of their plans. While multiple top clubs have been linked with him, nothing concrete has happened so far.
According to Sebastien Vidal, Nottingham Forest have entered the race for the services of the Chelsea forward. The Trick Trees seek more quality in the final third ahead of a campaign where they will be competing in the Europa Conference League, and they feel Nkunku could significantly bolster their attack.
While things didn’t work out for him at PSG, the 27-year-old made a name for himself at RB Leipzig. His exceptional performances earned him a big-money move to Chelsea. However, things didn’t work out in his favour as he suffered a serious knee injury that kept him sidelined for the majority of his debut campaign.
Nkunku was available for the majority of the 2024/25 season, and he even featured in 48 matches. But the French international wasn’t a regular starter under Enzo Maresca. Despite contributing towards 20 goals last season, he is unlikely to have a prominent role at the London club.
As a result, the 27-year-old is keen on parting ways with them despite having four years left on his deal. Meanwhile, the Blues are also ready to sanction his departure as long as they can recoup a significant part of what they had invested. They reportedly value him at around €60 million.
Tricky Trees are plotting a raid on Chelsea
With Chelsea ready to sell, multiple top clubs have been linked with him, but the Blues are yet to receive a formal offer. However, things could change in the coming days as Nottingham Forest have entered the race.
While the Tricky Trees missed out on a Champions League spot by the smallest of margins, they do have Europa Conference League football for next season. As a result, they are looking to add more quality to their squad in hopes of building on what they had achieved last time out.
Espirito Santo is looking for a world-class forward who can take them to the next level, and he has his eyes set on Nkunku, who is pushing for a move away from Chelsea. While he is available, signing him won’t be that straightforward because of the cost of the operation and the fact that the 27-year-old might be on the lookout for an even bigger project.
