Tottenham given renewed hope in Randal Kolo Muani chase
Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly look to sign 26-year-old French international Randal Kolo Muani from PSG in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Randal Kolo Muani is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites have renewed hope to land the Paris Saint-Germain flop, with the Ligue 1 champions’ talks with Juventus hitting a snag. However, the North London club will face stiff competition from Manchester United and Newcastle United for the Frenchman’s signature.
Randal Kolo Muani and his PSG problems
Randal Kolo Muani has hit a brick wall since joining Paris Saint-Germain from Eintracht Frankfurt in a big-money deal in September 2023. The French striker was a hot property in the market when PSG beat the competition to his signature. However, he barely made his mark in his first 18 months at Parc des Princes before Les Parisiens loaned him to Juventus earlier this year.
The 26-year-old showed flashes of brilliance during his spell with Juventus, amassing ten goals and three assists in 22 appearances. That has compelled Juventus to seek a permanent move for Kolo Muani. However, the talks between the Bianconeri and PSG have not progressed due to the Ligue 1 club’s asking price of €50 million. That has given a window of opportunity to Manchester United, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur.
A man in demand
Recent reports have suggested that Manchester United and Newcastle United have made their opening moves to sign the Frenchman from PSG. The two Premier League clubs are in contact with Kolo Muani’s entourage, and a summer deal may be on the cards.
Manchester United will aim to sign a striker this summer after Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund proved wasteful in front of the goal last season. As for Newcastle United, Callum Wilson has departed from St. James’ Park as a free agent, compelling the Tyneside outfit to seek a long-term replacement. So, Randal Kolo Muani is a viable target for the two Premier League clubs.
As for Tottenham Hotspur, the Lilywhites hold a long-standing interest in the 26-year-old French international. However, Juventus’s talks with PSG pushed the North London club to the wayside, and they now have renewed hopes of landing Kolo Muani’s signature due to the breakdown in discussions.
PSG will aim to recoup €50 million for a permanent exit. However, they are open to a loan fee of €5 million and a purchase obligation clause worth €45 million. With Juventus unwilling to fork out €50 million to secure the Frenchman’s services, Tottenham and the other suitors can pounce.
