Xavi Simons desperate for Premier League move amid exit links

Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing 25-year-old Dutch playmaker Xavi Simons from Bundesliga club RB Leipzig this summer.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Xavi Simons. The RB Leipzig playmaker is growing increasingly impatient at the prospect of moving to the Premier League, with the Bundesliga club demanding £60 million to part ways with the Dutchman in the summer transfer window.

Xavi Simons and his progress in Germany

Xavi Simons has been one of the best players in the Bundesliga since joining RB Leipzig from Paris Saint-Germain. Die Roten Bullen initially signed the former Barcelona and PSG wonderkid on loan in July 2023 before completing a permanent move earlier this year.

The Dutch playmaker has come leaps and bounds at RB Leipzig, turning out 76 times thus far for the Bundesliga outfit while chipping in with 21 goals and 23 assists. Meanwhile, the Netherlands international has piqued the attention of several well-known clubs with his exploits for Leipzig. Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur are among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

A man in demand

With Viktor Gyokeres and Cristhian Mosquera on the verge of joining Arsenal, the Gunners are almost done with their summer spending. However, adding a playmaker to Mikel Arteta’s squad will be sensible, considering Martin Odegaard shoulders most of the creative burden for Arsenal.  So, Simons has emerged as a viable target for the North London club.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s interest in Xavi Simons is perplexing. With Cole Palmer the first-choice option to reprise the no. 10 role, it is unclear how the Dutchman fits into the scheme of things unless Palmer plays on the right flank. Nevertheless, Simons is a top target for Chelsea, with the youngster keen on moving to Stamford Bridge.

As for Tottenham Hotspur, Richarlison and Son Heung-min face an uncertain future at the North London club. In addition, James Maddison has blown hot and cold since arriving from Leicester City. So, Simons is an option worth considering for Tottenham. Meanwhile, the Dutch playmaker is increasingly desperate to move to the Premier League in the summer transfer window.

RB Leipzig will demand around £60 million to part ways with the 22-year-old Dutchman, and the Bundesliga club’s asking price makes him an expensive target. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see if Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur can seal the deal for his signature in the coming weeks.
