Real Madrid plotting player plus cash deal for Rodri
Real Madrid are working on a plan to send two key stars, plus 40 million in cash, for the signature of Ballon d’Or holder Rodri from Manchester City.
According to Fichajes, Real Madrid are planning a sensational coup for Ballon d’Or winner Rodri from Manchester City. Xabi Alonso wants a controlling midfielder in the middle, and considers the position key to his project, with the club now reportedly prepared to pay 40 million plus Eduardo Camavinga and Rodrygo Goes for the Spanish midfielder.
Manchester City had a dreadful season, and probably the only one in Pep Guardiola’s illustrious career where he ended trophyless. The big factor for their awful performances on all fronts has been attributed to the absence of Ballon d’Or winner Rodri, who has only returned to action following an ACL rupture at the start of the previous campaign.
Guardiola considers Rodri the best in his position and will be counting on him ahead of the new campaign. The importance of the award-winning Manchester City star is often underrated, and if given a choice, the club will not consider any offers coming their way for the midfielder.
Real Madrid have different plans, as they were reportedly plotting a big move for Rodri. New manager Xabi Alonso needs a deep-lying midfielder as a controller to dictate the game. He currently does not possess such a profile in his squad, as the club have missed the presence of Toni Kroos in that regard.
Some options are being discussed, such as Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister, as Alonso wants a top-rated star in the position. Some reports also linked Enzo Fernandez as a big option for Real Madrid, as it remains to be seen whether the club pivots towards one of those names in the scenario that they cannot sign Rodri.
Real Madrid preparing double players-plus-cash deal
Real Madrid are reportedly ready to offer Rodrygo Goes and Eduardo Camavinga, along with 40 million in cash, for the signing of Rodri. On paper, it may sound like a sensational offer, especially considering Guardiola admires both those players mentioned in the report.
Guardiola certainly likes Rodrygo, and he may value the presence of the energetic Camavinga if given the chance to sign the Frenchman. However, there are considerable doubts whether they will part ways with the award-winning Rodri under any circumstances this summer, although any decision will also depend on the midfielder, especially if he wishes to make a return to La Liga.
