Newcastle United ready to offer new contract to Valentino Livramento to ward off Manchester City
Newcastle United are preparing to offer Valentino Livramento a new deal in a bid to fend off interest from Manchester City.
According to a report from The Times, Manchester City are keen on acquiring the services of Valentino Livramento as Pep Guardiola looks to strengthen the full-back position. The Manchester-based giants are prepared to offer £65 million to sign the English full-back.
However, Newcastle United have no intention of negotiating his departure. The Tyneside outfit are set to offer him a new long-term deal with improved terms to ensure he continues at the club.
Valentino Livramento came up the ranks at Chelsea, but he then made the switch to Southampton in 2021 in search of regular first-team action. On the back of two impressive seasons with the Saints, the Magpies forked out a fee that could rise to £40 million to add him to their squad.
He has worked his way into Eddie Howe’s plans. The 22-year-old made the right-back spot his own ahead of Kieran Trippier at the start of the season before shifting to the left flank following an injury to Lewis Hall.

His impressive performances on either flank have put him on the radar of Pep Guardiola, who is looking for a new full-back following Kyle Walker’s departure. He wants a top-quality player who can contribute on both ends of the pitch. Livramento is considered a perfect fit for his system and the club’s project.
Valentino Livramento was exceptional for Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool, where he kept Mohamed Salah in check. Meanwhile, he played a big part in England’s triumph in the Under-21 Euros. On the back of his performances and massive potential, City are prepared to fork out £65 million to sign him.
Newcastle United to offer Livramento a lucrative new deal
But they are still unlikely to get their hands on him as Newcastle have no intentions of parting ways with one of their most valuable assets. While he still has three years left on his deal, Livramento seeks improved terms, and the Magpies are ready to meet his demands.
They are all set to make him one of their highest-paid players with a new potential six-year deal as they look to ward off interest from City. Eddie Howe’s team do not want any more speculations about their star, as they are already dealing with a lot of uncertainty around Alexander Isak’s future.
