Kendry Paez set to complete loan move to RC Strasbourg
Chelsea’s teenage attacking sensation Kendry Paez is set to join sister-club RC Strasbourg on a season-long loan.
According to Ben Jacobs, Chelsea summer signing Kendry Paez is all set to join RC Strasbourg on loan as the Blues look to ensure he gets the regular minutes needed to continue his development as a player. While he did train with them during the Club World Cup, Enzo Maresca feels he can’t guarantee him regular minutes just yet.
Paez came up the ranks and made a name for himself while playing for Independiente. Thanks to his impressive rise and exceptional performances for the first team, multiple top clubs from across Europe were after his signature.
Despite being on the wishlist of some of the biggest clubs in the world, Chelsea managed to beat the competition. They struck a deal for him back in 2023 when he was just 16. After turning 18 back in May, he ended up moving to Stamford Bridge ahead of the Club World Cup.
While he wasn’t a part of the official squad, he did train with the team during the tournament as Maresca was looking to decide whether to have him around for next season or send him out on loan.
Paez to join RC Strasbourg on loan
The Italian manager finally made a decision on his future. Despite his massive talent, he decided it was in the best interest of the player if he ended up moving to a different club on a temporary basis. While multiple clubs were ready to sign him on loan, Chelsea have decided to send him to sister club Strasbourg.
The French club are looking for more quality in the final third, and the teenager could prove to be a valuable addition to their squad. Not only can Paez feature as a number ten, he can even start on the flanks or in a deeper role in midfield if needed.
With him joining Strasbourg, it is almost certain that he will get a decent amount of first-team action, which could go a long way in helping the Ecuadorian sensation to break into Chelsea’s first team in the future. All parties involved have given the green light to the move, and the loan is now in the process of being finalised.
