Leeds United ponder loan move for Marc Guiu
Leeds United will reportedly look to sign 19-year-old Spanish attacking sensation Marc Guiu on loan from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by French journalist Sebastien Vidal, Marc Guiu is the subject of interest from Leeds United. The Whites are eager to bolster their offensive unit by signing a striker in the summer transfer window. So, the 19-year-old Chelsea attacking sensation has emerged as a target for the newly promoted Premier League club.
The 2024/25 EFL Championship winners only want to secure the Spaniard’s services on a season-long loan move. That arrangement suits Chelsea, with the West London club open to parting ways with Guiu on a temporary deal in the summer transfer window. The youngster is also a target for Ipswich Town.
Marc Guiu and his young career
Marc Guiu has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Chelsea from Barcelona last summer. A native of Granollers, the 19-year-old striker spent his formative years in his homeland, rising through the ranks at La Masia before breaking into the first-team squad at FC Barcelona a few years ago.
As for Guiu’s spell with Chelsea thus far, the Spanish attacking sensation has managed only 619 minutes of game time across 16 appearances while chipping in with six goals. However, the youngster missed most of the second half of the 2024/25 season due to a hamstring injury, and his stock has fallen after the arrival of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro this summer.
What next?
Marc Guiu can benefit from leaving Chelsea and seeking a loan move in the summer transfer window. Recent reports have linked the highly-rated striker with Ipswich Town, with the Tractor Boys eyeing him as a short-term replacement for Liam Delap. However, Leeds United will aim to beat the competition to his signature.
Leeds United’s interest in Marc Guiu makes sense. The Whites are keen on signing another striker despite adding Lukas Nmecha to the squad this summer. With Patrick Bamford having no future at Elland Road and Mateo Joseph expected to depart from Elland Road, Leeds United must sign a striker.
So, Guiu is a viable target, as he can be a short-term solution in the final third amid Leeds United’s desire to sign him on loan in the summer transfer window. With Chelsea ready to sanction a temporary deal, it will be interesting to see if the 19-year-old Spanish attacking sensation moves to Elland Road.
