Rodrygo Goes likely to replace Luis Diaz at Liverpool
Rodrygo Goes is the player that Liverpool want to replace Luis Diaz with if the Colombian leaves this summer, as they will face competition.
According to L’Equipe, Liverpool wants to replace Luis Diaz with Rodrygo Goes this summer. The Colombian winger could depart of the club’s conditions for a transfer are met, while the 24-year-old Real Madrid man is seen as the ideal candidate to come into Arne Slot’s setup.
The Rodrygo Goes transfer update remains unclear despite reports around Real Madrid suggesting the club are willing to sell him. Xabi Alonso did not play with the 24-year-old much during the recently concluded FIFA Club World Cup campaign, which provided insight into how the Spanish manager is thinking about his new team.
Should Rodrygo depart, he will have plenty of options with some big clubs already circling. Arsenal are very much interested if they can find buyers for one of Leandro Trossard or even Gabriel Martinelli, while Bayern Munich are also keen to address their left-hand side of the attack.
The Bavarians are the ones chasing Liverpool’s Luis Diaz with intent. Bayern Munich saw a bid turned down for the attacker, with Liverpool reportedly demanding €100 million to sell the Colombian. The 28-year-old, should he leave, will need replacing at Merseyside, with the Reds identifying Rodrygo as the ideal target.
Rodrygo himself will cost around the £100 million mark, and should Liverpool themselves get a figure close to that for Diaz, it will be a great deal if they can bring the 24-year-old Real Madrid man. However, with competition in place, there are the usual challenges for the Merseysiders to lure him in, while they will have to pay him top-notch wages.
Will Rodrygo Goes join Liverpool?
The Diaz situation will bring clarity on whether Liverpool are interested. The Colombian is already unhappy with the club for rejecting Bayern’s proposal, as he either wants a new deal or a sale, as neither of those are forthcoming at this current moment.
Rodrygo replacing Diaz will be the ideal move for Liverpool, although the level of competition as well as the player’s indecisiveness could drag this saga until the latter stages of the window. It remains to be seen whether the Brazilian is open to the prospect of joining the Reds, as he could potentially have other offers from the likes of Arsenal or even Bayern Munich once his stance at Real Madrid becomes clearer.
