Patrick Bamford set to leave Leeds United this summer

Leeds United will part ways with 31-year-old English striker Patrick Bamford in the summer transfer window, thus ending a seven-year association.

According to a report by The Sun, Patrick Bamford has no future at Leeds United. Daniel Farke has confirmed the newly promoted Premier League club’s decision to part ways with the veteran English striker, who does not feature in the German tactician’s plans for the 2024/25 season.

Farke said, “I had a really open and honest conversation. I would have preferred a completely fit Patrick Bamford in the last two seasons. He knows how much I rate him as a person. It was the second day of pre-season when I told him in my office that he wasn’t part of my plans for the upcoming Premier League season, due to the fact that he’s had really difficult years over the past few years.”

Patrick Bamford and his rollercoaster career.

Patrick Bamford has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Leeds United from Middlesbrough in July 2018. A native of Grantham, the Englishman spent his formative years with Nottingham Forest before joining Chelsea. However, the 31-year-old was part of the infamous “loan army” during his spell with the West London club and finally landed on his feet after moving to Leeds.

While Bamford has enjoyed some impressive moments with Leeds United, fitness issues have plagued him in the last few years, drastically reducing his involvement as a starter for the West Yorkshire outfit. The English striker has turned out over 200 times thus far for Leeds United while chipping in with 60 goals and 25 assists.

What next?

While Patrick Bamford was once a pivotal figure for Leeds United, his spell with the newly promoted Premier League club will end in the summer transfer window. Farke informed the experienced striker that he no longer considered the player as part of his plans only two days into the pre-season campaign.

While Bamford will leave Leeds United in the summer transfer window, it is unclear where he will land after ending his seven-year association with the West Yorkshire outfit. Meanwhile, the 31-year-old Englishman will not be the only striker moving away from Leeds United this summer, with Mateo Joseph also not in Farke’s plans.

Recent reports have linked the Spanish striker with Real Betis, but the bid has not convinced Leeds United. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for Bamford and Joseph as they look to resurrect their stuttering careers.
