Leeds United receive Real Betis offer for Mateo Joseph, bid unconvincing

Leeds United are not convinced by Real Betis’ approach for versatile attacker Mateo Joseph, who have offered a loan with a buy option.

According to Diario de Sevilla via Sport Witness, Leeds United are yet to provide Real Betis with an answer over their approach for Whites attacker Mateo Joseph. The newly promoted Premier League side are not convinced by the loan offer with a buy option, which could see them lean towards keeping the 21-year-old.

Real Betis are traditionally very difficult to deal with during player negotiations as they are known to put in low-ball offers for interested players. The Spanish side are not known to have flush finances, but somehow manages to get some key deals over the line.

They are now keen ot add to their attack as they are not going to re-sign Antony following a successful loan spell in the second half of last season. They have to bring in someone to cover for the loss in the attacking third, and have identified Leeds United’s Mateo Joseph as a potential target.

Joseph was a key player for Leeds United last season as they successfully secured a return to the Premier League. While he was not the ready starter for most parts, Daniel Farke often trusted him off the bench as a substitute, and made only 11 starts in the Championship.

Meanwhile, they have sent in an offer for Joseph, which the report claims is a loan with a buy option. The idea for Real Betis is to acquire a player who is keen to make a mark in Spanish football, although there were reports earlier that stated the 21-year-old attacker was keen to experience Premier League action with Leeds United.

Leeds United unconvinced by Real Betis offer

Leeds United are not convinced by the offer presented by Real Betis for Joseph and may look for a better deal. While they are not overly sure about offloading the attacker, who was instrumental to their season, albeit from the bench for most parts.

Hence, Leeds United could lean towards keeping hold of Joseph despite the 21-year-old attacker revealing being open to playing in La Liga. Whether Real Betis return with an offer remains to be seen, as the current loan proposal could be rejected by Leeds United.
